Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Application Developer to join our dynamic team. As we pivot our focus toward developer-centric initiatives, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing, managing, and optimizing our application and database infrastructure. You will bridge the gap between application logic and data management, ensuring that our systems support high-performance infrastructure effectively in a cloud-oriented or hybrid environment.
What you will be doing:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle within our ecosystem, with a specific focus on robust application architecture and database integrity.
• Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex applications using PowerBuilder, including the implementation and maintenance of Non-Visual Objects (NVOs).
• Database Management: Partner with infrastructure teams to manage, maintain, and optimize relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server / Sybase ASE) to ensure high availability and performance.
• System Integration: Architect and maintain integrations between applications and external systems using REST APIs or messaging middleware to ensure seamless data flow.
• Security & Compliance: Apply database management principles to support ATS’s core mission of mitigating cyber risks, ensuring that all application and database configurations adhere to government-grade security standards.
• Operational Support: Troubleshoot application and database-related issues, providing analytical solutions to enhance overall system operational efficiency.
Requirements:
What you will need:
• Technical Expertise:
• Proficiency in PowerBuilder development (including NVOs).
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase ASE.
• Proven experience in integrating applications with REST APIs or messaging/event-driven systems.
• Core Competencies:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
• Understanding of database management principles within cloud-oriented or hybrid environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment to meet ongoing and future project goals.
Nice-to-Have Skills
• Hands-on experience with Solace PubSub+ or similar messaging platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka).
• Experience in a government or highly regulated IT environment.
