OnTheList works to minimize the problem of excess stock by turning past-season inventory into sustainable opportunities. OnTheList works directly with retail brands and official distributors, turning old inventory into opportunity by providing a sustainable way for brands to sell past-season items that would have otherwise ended up in landfills, while providing the best deals and steep discounts to our OnTheList members. Since launching in Hong Kong in 2016, OnTheList has hosted over 5,200 flash sales and has built a community of over 1.3 million members across all regions. We’ve since expanded to Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Korea, Shanghai, Beijing, Thailand, and Dubai.

WHAT WE WILL TRUST YOU WITH...

Partner closely with the Head of IT to define and execute the company’s technology vision, architecture roadmap, and strategic initiatives.

Provide strong technical leadership across the entire project lifecycle, including solution architecture, technical design, development, QA/testing, deployment, and optimization.

Translate business and product requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.

Own the creation of system architecture designs, diagrams, integration specifications, and technical documentation.

Lead and mentor both in-house and offshore development teams, ensuring engineering excellence, productivity, and adherence to industry best practices.

Oversee the full software development lifecycle to ensure high-quality deliveries and effective risk management.

Lead and guide development of web and mobile applications, ensuring strong performance, excellent UX, and consistent quality across iOS and Android.

Establish and enforce engineering standards including coding conventions, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, and secure development practices.

Manage AWS cloud infrastructure with a focus on scalability, cost efficiency, and high availability using Infrastructure-as-Code.

Conduct architectural reviews, code reviews, and technical audits to maintain system quality and reliability.

Collaborate with business analysts, product managers, and key stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business objectives.

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, architectural patterns, and industry trends to drive innovation.

Coordinate with technology partners and vendors during solution design or integration.

WHAT IT TAKES...

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.

10+ years of relevant IT experience with at least 3 years in technical leadership or architectural roles building large-scale distributed systems.

Solid experience in retail/e-commerce industry in a must.

Deep understanding of Shopify eco-systems and integrations.

Proven experience as a Technical Architect, Technical Lead, or similar senior engineering role.

Strong knowledge in modern architecture paradigms: Microservices, event-driven, SOA, serverless, and cloud-native designs.

Solid hands-on development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks including React.js, Next.js, React Native, and Nest.js.

Solid experience building mobile applications with React Native for both iOS and Android, including native module integration, debugging, optimizing performance, and handling app releases.

Strong experience designing system architecture, producing technical diagrams, and writing clear technical documentation.

Deep understanding of web and mobile development with a strong appreciation for high-quality UI/UX.

Extensive experience with AWS cloud infrastructure; skilled with IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation) and automated DevOps pipelines.

Hands-on experience building high-availability systems using AWS EKS/ECS and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Experience leading distributed/remote engineering teams.

Strong understanding of APIs, system integrations, scalable networking technologies (load balancers, firewalls), and web security mechanisms.

Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency in English; Cantonese and Mandarin highly preferred.

Experience in Agile environments; relevant cloud or architecture certifications are a plus.
