Role profile:
We are looking for an experienced Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Lead Architect to drive the engineering design and product selection, implementation, integration, and continuous enhancement towards global KYC, CDD, and AML compliance. This role combines engineering leadership, product partnership, and deep collaboration with wider Engineering and Operations teams to strengthen LSEG’s financial crime control environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
• Own the target state architecture for AFC, covering AML, Sanctions, KYC, Fraud, and Investigations.
• Lead the technical design of a new, cloud‑native AFC platform to replace legacy technology.
• Define architecture patterns, integration approaches, and technology standards for modern AFC systems.
• Produce high‑quality architecture artefacts including blueprints, capability models, service catalogues, and process maps.
• Provide architectural oversight for multi‑year AFC transformation programme
• Partner with engineering, data, compliance, and operations teams to deliver end‑to‑end functional and technical solutions.
• Participate in design authorities, technical governance forums, and regulatory review processes.
• Define data architectures for AFC, including domain models, event schemas, lineage, governance, and quality controls.
• Support implementation of rules engines, anomaly detection, ML models, and risk‑scoring capabilities.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Essential Skills
• Proven expertise in delivering architecture and design for modern, cloud‑native AFC platforms and event‑driven architecture.
• Hands-on design experience with leading KYC/CDD/AML platforms as in-house builds, or vendor platforms like Fenergo, Actimize, Pega, Quantexa, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of KYC policy, CDD processes, AML regulations, and customer lifecycle workflows
• Ability to define and govern target state architectures, reference models, capability maps, and solution blueprints.
• In depth understanding of key Anti-Financial Crime pillars:• Customer Due Diligence / Know your Customer (KYC)
• Sanctions Screening (customer, payments, entity resolution)
• Fraud detection and behavioural analytics
• Case management, investigations, SAR reporting
• Strong command of data architecture for financial crime, including customer, account, transaction, and risk data models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead migrations from legacy AFC systems and/or skills in designing data migration strategies
• Ability to lead architecture workstreams across technology, data, risk, compliance, and operations.
• Experience supporting design authorities, solutioning guilds, audit and regulatory reviews, and senior stakeholder engagements. Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership.
• Product-oriented engineering mindset with a focus on quality and outcomes.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated financial environment.
• Analytical and structured problem-solving approach.
Desirable skills
• Experience with banking, payments and/or financial services domain
• Exposure to machine learning for AFC: anomaly detection, risk scoring, feature stores, explainable AI (XAI).
