Position Summary: 

The Manager of Ancillary Services is responsible for the strategic and operational management of all patient diagnostic services within the cardiovascular practice. This role focuses on driving sustainable growth, optimizing utilization, improving patient access, and ensuring high-quality, compliant, and financially successful delivery of ancillary diagnostic services.

 

The Manager leads all diagnostic growth levers—including capacity planning, scheduling optimization, physician engagement, workflow efficiency, and performance analytics—while maintaining exceptional patient experience and regulatory compliance.

 

Responsibilities may include:

Growth & Performance

Execute against divisional growth strategy for cardiovascular diagnostic services to include but not limited to: PETCT, Spect, Echo, EKG, Device Clinic, Remote Patient Monitoring.

Identify and activate growth levers including improved access, reduced leakage, increased utilization, new service offerings, and expanded hours or locations.

Partner with physician leaders to align diagnostic growth strategies with clinical goals and patient care needs.

Monitor referral patterns to inform service line expansion.

Operations & Workflow Management

Oversee daily operations of all diagnostic service areas to ensure efficient, patient-centered workflows.

Optimize scheduling templates, staffing models, and room/equipment utilization to maximize capacity and throughput.

Implement process improvements to reduce wait times, improve turnaround times, and enhance patient satisfaction.

Ensure consistent, standardized workflows across all sites of service.

Financial & Analytics Oversight

Own performance metrics for ancillary services including volume, utilization, revenue, contribution margin, and cost control.

Build and monitor dashboards tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and growth targets.

Collaborate with finance and billing teams to ensure accurate coding, charge capture, and reimbursement optimization.

Manage departmental budgets related to ancillary services.

Leadership & Team Development

Provide leadership to all diagnostic staff, including supervisors and lead technologists.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care.

Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of diagnostic teams.

Promote cross-functional collaboration between clinical, operational, and administrative teams.

Quality, Compliance & Accreditation

Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements (e.g., IAC, CMS, state regulations).

Lead preparation for accreditation surveys and audits related to diagnostic services.

Partner with clinical leadership to maintain high standards of diagnostic quality and safety.

Physician & Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as a key liaison between physicians, administrators, and diagnostic teams.

Support physician adoption of best practices that drive appropriate utilization and clinical excellence.

Present performance updates and growth initiatives to executive leadership as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare operations experience, with direct oversight of ancillary or diagnostic services.

Demonstrated success driving growth and operational improvement in a physician practice or cardiovascular setting.

Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, or related).

Experience in cardiovascular diagnostics or specialty physician practices.

Familiarity with accreditation standards (IAC, TJC) and reimbursement for diagnostic services.

Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement training.
