About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Due to internal relocation, we are seeking either an Anatomical or Clinical Pathologist to join our Christchurch team. This is a permanent, full-time position of 80 hours per fortnight although 64 hours per fortnight may be considered.
This role offers challenge and variety across the diagnostic spectrum, which may include the evaluation and interpretation of histology, haematology, cytology, clinical chemistry, endocrinology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and molecular results. You will also provide specialist advice and phone consultations to veterinary clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and interpret diagnostic results across multiple diagnostic disciplines
Provide specialist pathology advice to veterinary clients.
Conduct phone consultations to support clinical decision-making.
Contribute to high-quality diagnostic reporting across both clinical and/or anatomical pathology.
Work collaboratively with the wider laboratory team to support service delivery.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
A qualification that is recognised for registration by the Veterinary Council of New Zealand to practice in a diagnostic laboratory.
Sound clinical reasoning.
Attention to detail.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Clear and concise report writing.
Understanding of biosecurity and notifiable disease frameworks.
Awareness of animal welfare, ethical considerations and legal responsibilities.
