We are seeking an Analytical Sciences Group Leader – Clinical Chemistry to lead a first-shift analytical team supporting clinical testing activities. This role is ideal for a scientifically driven leader who enjoys staying close to the bench while developing talent, managing workflows, and maintaining high standards of data quality and cGMP compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory & Technical Responsibilities
• Perform benchtop testing of large molecules using HPLC and UPLC methodologies
• Ensure accurate execution, documentation, and review of analytical assays using GDP and cGMP guidelines
• Collect, process, and evaluate raw analytical data
• Utilize LIMS for sample tracking, data documentation, and result reporting
• Conduct peer review of analytical procedures and processed data
• Collaborate with reviewers and authorizers to resolve documentation issues or coordinate retesting
• Maintain laboratory notebooks, logbooks, and electronic documentation systems
• Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, and inventory
• Participate in laboratory safety walkthroughs and compliance inspections
• Complete all required safety, procedural, and regulatory training
Leadership & Team Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analytical scientists
• Coordinate team workload, scheduling, and daily priorities
• Manage cross-training initiatives to ensure adequate coverage and team flexibility
• Monitor and report productivity, quality, and performance metrics
• Communicate proactively and effectively with client-facing and internal partner teams
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
• Deliver technical and procedural training within the department
• Participate in overtime and weekend scheduling as business needs require
• Conduct routine employee compliance checks and safety observations
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience)
• Minimum 2 years of cGMP experience
• Hands-on experience with HPLC/UPLC instrumentation and troubleshooting
• Experience with quantitative liquid chromatography data analysis
• Familiarity with LIMS or electronic data management systems
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and scientific documentation practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
What to Expect in the Hiring Process:

• 30 Minute Virtual Meeting with Site Director 
Position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, First Shift, Monday through Friday from 8 am-4 pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Rensselear, New York, are encouraged to apply
