About the role
We are looking for a dynamic Analyst to support our public policy, market insights, and impact evidence projects. This role involves open-source research, economic analysis, and qualitative and quantitative analysis. A strong focus will rest on ongoing policy monitoring, data source identification and collection, and data analysis. The ideal candidate is a curious, digitally native individual who demonstrates an understanding of political, economic, social, and policy contexts, primarily focused on Nigeria and West Africa.
Client servicing
Support complex policy, stakeholder advisory, and impact analysis projects, contributing to individual deliverables and workstreams.
Monitor political, economic, social, and policy developments, with a focus on Nigeria and West Africa.
Conduct comprehensive analysis to assess risks, opportunities, and socio-economic impacts relevant to clients.
Produce and deliver high-quality written reports, visual-led analysis, and other outputs on political, economic, policy, and social developments for clients and internal use, participating in related client briefings.
Support deep and extensive research (including open-source and stakeholder engagement based) for public policy, market insights, and impact analysis projects.
Support the organising of stakeholder convenings and co-design sessions.
Assist in identifying data sources and relevant literature for diverse project needs.
Support data collection efforts, including assisting with the development and implementation of surveys, questionnaires, and interview guides.
Other responsibilities
Assist with building Africa Practice’s knowledge base regarding Nigeria and West Africa, and develop related marketing material
Contribute to the methodologies and best practices applied by Africa Practice’s Insights practice
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline; preferably in Political Science, Economics, Law is preferred. A postgraduate degree is an advantage. Prior experience with consulting or development is a strong advantage.
At least 1 year of professional or strong academic experience in analysing policy, political and economic issues.
Deep knowledge of, and genuine interest in, the Nigerian political economy, with an understanding of regional markets.
Intellectual curiosity and a passion for answering complex socio-economic questions using both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
Excellent investigative, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English. An ability to write clearly, concisely, and authoritatively to tight deadlines is crucial for this role.
A genuine enjoyment of research, data analysis, and writing.
A dynamic self-starter, able to work on their own initiative on complex issues and collaboratively within a team.
The ability to cultivate strong trust-based relationships within the company, with clients, and with the wider political economy ecosystem.
Eagerness to learn and grow skills in policy and economic consulting.
An interest in contributing to sustainable development and helping clients navigate this landscape.
