About The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who loves building systems and shipping meaningful software quickly.

This role is primarily backend-focused, but we’re looking for a true builder — someone comfortable owning problems end-to-end and willing to step into frontend work when needed, especially with the help of modern AI tools.

You’ll work on the core infrastructure powering Align’s Trade Operating System: workflow orchestration, data pipelines, compliance logic, and integrations across complex enterprise systems.

This is a high-ownership role where you’ll help shape both the architecture and the product as we scale.

What You'll Do

• Design and build backend services that power Align’s trade execution platform

• Implement systems for workflow orchestration, compliance rules, and operational decisioning

• Work with complex datasets and build pipelines that process trade-related data

• Integrate external systems and APIs used in enterprise trade operations

• Collaborate closely with product and design to ship new features quickly

• Own features end-to-end when needed, including occasional frontend implementation

• Use modern AI tools to accelerate development and experimentation

• Contribute to system architecture and long-term technical direction

Our Tech Stack

Backend: TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Redis

Frontend: Next.js, React 18 / 19

AI/ML: LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic), Embeddings, Semantic Search

Infra: AWS (ECS Fargate, S3, SQS, Lambda, Secrets Manager), Terraform, Docker

Data: Python, Pandas, FastAPI, Dagster

Bonus Points

Nice-to-have experience with:

• Feature flag systems (e.g. LaunchDarkly)

• Monorepo environments spanning multiple languages or runtimes

• Enterprise integrations

• Compliance-heavy domains (fintech, logistics, trade, or regulated systems)
