Position Overview: We are currently seeking a part-time Airport Systems Support Technician to provide hands-on mechanical support at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. This role focuses on the physical upkeep and repair of automated bag-drop/check-in hardware. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using hand tools, performing preventative maintenance, and resolving mechanical issues. In addition to performing routine scheduled maintenance, the individual selected for this role should be prepared for on-call responsibilities, responding promptly to any incidents that may occur. Training will be provided.

Position requires candidates with flexible availability for on-call support. Ideal applicants should demonstrate consistent or long-term flexibility to manage on-call responsibilities alongside other commitments, such as freelance work or flexible schedules.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position that requires onsite shift work totaling 4 hours of maintenance every two weeks, as well as on-call availability to respond to any incidents.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a phone with the ability to take pictures to document work.

Minimum knowledge of computer hardware and windows based platforms.

Comfortable making repairs and adjustments to equipment with use of provided tools.

Ability to independently analyze and solve routine mechanical related problems.

Ability to read a variety of informational documentation, directions, instructions, methods and procedures, such as manuals, wiring diagrams, product documentation and related materials.

Preferred Experience:

Documented experience in superior customer service delivery.

Personable and able to work independently.

Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

 

Education and Certification:

High School Diploma and/or two (2) years of relevant experience.

Competent in hands-on mechanical repair.
