The Structural Designer is responsible for developing and supporting certified aircraft structural designs across new development, modification, and STC programs. This role works closely with Stress, Certification, and Production teams to deliver compliant, manufacturable, and airworthy structural solutions.
Key responsibilities
• Develop and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings of aircraft structural components using CATIA V5.
• Collaborate with Stress, Materials & Processes, Certification, and Production teams to ensure structurally sound and certifiable designs.
• Support structural analysis through accurate modeling, load path definition, and basic hand calculations.
• Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations (FAA, TCCA, EASA) and certification requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate multidisciplinary feedback.
• Support production, installation, and in-service issue resolution.
• Apply configuration management and change control best practices throughout the design lifecycle.
• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 8–10+ years of experience in aircraft structural design.
• Strong CATIA V5 expertise (Part Design, Assembly, Drafting).
• Solid understanding of aircraft structures, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with structural analysis principles; FEA exposure is an asset.
• Experience working in regulated aerospace certification environments.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred assets
• Experience with STC, aircraft modifications, or legacy platforms.
• Knowledge of certification documentation and DER support.
• Experience with PLM/PDM tools (ENOVIA, Teamcenter, Windchill).
