Airbus UpNext - Aircraft Embedded Software developer

Job Description:

Airbus Upnext is launching a new cross divisional demonstrator that will deliver strategic outputs to all Airbus divisions. It will help reinforcing knowledge and capacity to propose disruptive and differentiating avionics architecture and advanced awareness sensors to enrich Airbus Helicopters future products.

Following initial exploration from VERTEX and other UpNext demonstrators, sense & avoidance technologies such as cameras and LiDARs as well as aircraft robust positioning even in case of GPS loss will be further developed up to high level of maturity for helicopter use. Those technologies will be used to increase the crew's awareness of the environment through a novel Human Machine Interface, better adapted to new on-board technologies.

Main missions:

As Aircraft Embedded Software developer, you will:

Define, develop and integrate hardware and software components for both High Performance Computer awareness sensors and Core computers, including HMI outputs.

Integrate the Software development team with special focus on certifiability support & analysis to ensure future certification of delivered software .

Facilitate rapid prototyping of the solution for demonstration purposes and participate to the integration of these components on the demonstrator, ensuring the adequate connections between the different technobricks.

Your participation to creativity session is key to ensure the sprint set-up and filtering of orientations as regard as technical feasibility.

You are passionate and impatient about putting methods and processes in place to achieve your targets. You are the type of person who thinks about “how things can be done” rather than “if they can be done”.

You work collaboratively and with humility and are a constant learner about how to improve the performance.

A healthy dose of impatience with processes and bureaucracy, and willingness to move fast and take risks are essential attributes.

This job comes with a limited contract (CDI-C) linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated end date end of June 2028).

Starting date ASAP.

The position is based in Marignane (Marseille Area), in Airbus Helicopters premises, and will require some business travel to Toulouse.

Your Boarding Pass:

Engineering degree with an innovation flavor

3 to 5 years experience in software development

Embedded software developer mastering : C/C++ programming language, Rust would be a plus. Ability to develop them on Linux while taking into account RTOS System specificities and constraints

Willing to ensure software quality of existing and new software with a focus on DO178 norms and its associated process, plans, specification and testing phases (knowledge of other well defined industry norms is also welcomed). Being innovative in the way to achieve the objectives of these standards is key.

Used to git workflow and AGILE-Scrums methodology would be a plus
