Role Overview

Promise is seeking an exceptional and highly specialized Senior Generative VFX Artist to translate visionary concepts into high-fidelity digital creatures and digital humans. This role is central to leveraging cutting-edge Generative AI tools and advanced data acquisition techniques, including volume capture, to push the boundaries of artistic realism and creative execution in character development. We are looking for an exceptional VFX Artist who can harness technology to achieve breathtaking artistic results for our film and television slate, focusing on aesthetic quality and photorealistic detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Generative AI Creative Application

• Artistic Innovation: Drive the artistic use of VFX and generative tools to create unique and complex creature elements, textures, and displacement maps, moving beyond traditional production methods.

• Look Development Iteration: Innovate creative approaches using AI interfaces (e.g., Stable Diffusion, ControlNet) to rapidly iterate on character look development, lighting, and style .

• Aesthetic Troubleshooting: Evaluate and resolve artistic challenges by finding creative solutions that bridge the output of GenAI models with the high-quality needs of photorealistic film production.

• Creature & Character Artistic Execution

• Photorealistic Detail: Execute the highest level of artistic detail in digital creature creation, including advanced sculpting, texturing, and shading for organic models.

• Asset Acquisition & Curation: Oversee the artistic quality of source data, including photogrammetry and volume capture, ensuring its suitability for downstream artistic asset creation and GenAI model training.

• Shader Development: Develop complex and realistic material shaders in collaboration with lighting artists to define the final appearance of creatures and digital characters in context.

• Digital Human & Face Artistry

• Face Artistry Mastery: Master the art of photorealistic face replacement, ensuring seamless integration, realistic skin detail, and believable facial performance onto digital doubles and characters.

• Volumetric Data Utilization: Artistically utilize and process high-quality volume capture and photogrammetry data for creating, texturing, and training realistic digital humans and creature assets.

• Performance Realism: Refine and polish facial modeling and animation details to achieve emotional resonance and realism using both traditional and AI-enhanced techniques.

• Quality Control and R&D

• Creative & Technical Quality: Maintain an exceptionally high standard of artistic and technical output, troubleshooting complex render issues related to character and creature assets.

• Model Evaluation: Actively research, test, and evaluate emerging Generative AI models and tools relevant to digital character creation, providing clear recommendations for production adoption.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a VFX Artist, specializing in high-end creature, character, or digital human work for feature film or episodic television.

• Artistic Excellence: A demonstrated passion for artistic vision and a keen eye for photorealism, light, and anatomical detail in character design.

• Creative Problem Solving: Proven ability to blend strong artistic skill with technical understanding to solve novel creative problems in a fast-paced environment.

• Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional photorealistic creature, character, and facial replacement work.

Software & Creative Tool Proficiency

• VFX Software Expertise: Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard artistic software, including 3D modeling software and AI tools.

• Generative AI: Hands-on experience integrating tools like Stable Diffusion, ControlNet, or other image/video synthesis models into an artistic workflow. Experience with ComfyUI or similar node-based AI interfaces is a significant plus.

• Data Acquisition: Familiarity with photogrammetry and volume capture pipelines and related artistic cleanup tools.

• Asset Management: Experience working within professional asset and version control systems (e.g., ShotGrid).
