Job Description

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the data platform for the Backbase Data as a Service (DaaS) Platform. Your experience and expertise in data engineering will ensure the success of the DaaS platform. The Data as a Service platform enables Backbase and their customers to perform big data analytics on data stored in the Engagement Banking Platform. You are expected to develop, maintain and test data infrastructure for retrieving data from many different data sources into a Data Lakehouse to enable data scientists and analyst to do their jobs. The Backbase Data Team is responsible for extracting data stored from the different systems in use in Backbase to unlock new insights and products built on top of the data platform. At Backbase we aim to deliver a turn-key Data as a Service platform built on top of the state Azure technology. The DaaS platform will enable customers from Backbase to run analytical, AI and ML workloads on data stored in the Engagement Banking Platform without affecting the operational state of the systems. You will develop and maintain the data pipelines for extracting data from many different sources, such as RDBMS, Change Data Capture and streaming endpoints. Captured data ranges from observability metrics to bank accounts and transactions that need to be processed in a highly secure and compliant manner. You guard the data consistency, quality and end to end governance from where data is born to where it is used in dashboards, AI / ML applications and other data consumers.

● A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field;
● 5+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably in Azure Synapse, Spark, or Data Bricks;
● Expertise in Data Lakehouse concepts and Delta Lake;
● Deep understanding of data domains, regulations, and compliance requirements;
● Strong leadership and project management skills;
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
