AI Operations Analyst

About the Role

Cigna is expanding its global AI Operations capabilities and seeking an AI Operations Analyst to support international AI governance, responsible AI processes, and foundational prompt engineering tasks. This entry‑level to early‑career role is ideal for someone eager to grow in AI, data, and governance while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across time zones.

You will play a key role in ensuring Cigna’s AI tools, workflows, and vendors meet risk, compliance, and performance standards—while assisting with prompt development, documentation, and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities

AI Operations & Governance (Primary Focus)
Support the management and operation of Cigna’s International AI Governance framework, including monitoring compliance, lifecycle documentation, and standards adherence.
Help maintain governance artifacts such as model inventories, risk assessments, data flow diagrams, and evaluation logs.
Collect, organize, and track information needed for reviews with Legal, Privacy, Security, and Compliance teams.
Assist with vendor oversight by gathering technical and operational data for governance reviews.

Prompt Engineering Support
Contribute to basic prompt design, testing, and optimization under direction from senior prompt engineers.
Maintain prompt libraries, version histories, and quality checks.
Run structured prompt tests for accuracy, safety, cost efficiency, and response quality.
Document prompt performance results and produce clear summaries for stakeholders.

Operational Monitoring & Reporting
Support creation of dashboards, reports, and audits for:
AI usage patterns
Model or prompt incidents
Risk & compliance checkpoints
Vendor performance metrics
Participate in operational reviews, retrospectives, and red‑team/blue‑team exercises.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with teams across International Markets, Data/ML Engineering, Security, Privacy, and Product to ensure governance tasks progress smoothly.
Work effectively across multiple time zones with teams in Europe, India, and the U.S.
Contribute to training materials, FAQs, and documentation to support internal adoption of AI tools.

Qualifications

Required
1–3 years experience in data, analytics, technology operations, or early‑career AI‑related roles.
Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts (LLMs, RAG basics, model inputs/outputs, risks).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail—comfortable managing documentation and workflows.
Curiosity and willingness to learn prompt engineering and governance methodologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work with both technical and non‑technical teams.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across global teams and time zones.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Data/Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or similar).

Preferred (Nice to Have)
Exposure to AI governance, risk, privacy, or compliance practices.
Basic experience with prompt engineering or LLM tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Azure OpenAI, etc.).
Familiarity with data concepts such as metadata, data quality, and PII/PHI handling.
Understanding of enterprise operations or business process mapping.
Interest in healthcare, insurance, or regulated industries.

Success Indicators
Timely completion of governance tasks, documentation, and reviews.
High-quality prompt testing results and clear reporting.
Improved operational efficiency (tracking, audits, dashboards).
Strong collaboration feedback from global stakeholders.
Growth in AI and governance capabilities over the first 12 months.

Ways of Working
Hybrid work environment with overlapping collaboration hours across the EU and India; occasional cross‑region alignment meetings.
Light travel possible for workshops or vendor sessions.
Training and mentorship available from senior team members and AI leadership.
