We are looking for a visionary Product Engineer who is passionate about using AI for product development. They must have a strong foundation in backend engineering, capable of building and integrating frontend systems, backend systems, customer service portals, and operations portals using AI tools. In this role, you will be at the forefront of adopting an AI-first approach to product development, continually challenging existing workflows and foundational engineering principles, while engaging in rapid experimentation to enhance value delivery to customers. Key Responsibilities:
• Take the lead with AI-first adoption, leveraging AI tools and prompt engineering skills to automate work wherever possible so that we can improve time-to-value
• "Question the requirements", to get to the essence of what is actually needed, ensuring that we are building the right things right
• Collaborate with a new, AI-first product development team where you'll be at the heart of building and scaling innovative enterprise financial products, driving meaningful impact from day one
• Take end-to-end ownership of the product, designing systems to satisfy customers and validating assumptions with data driven insights
• Innovate like a startup—lead the charge from concept to deployment, continuously testing, learning, and improving your product with every iteration
• Embrace the full product lifecycle; prioritise it, define it, design it, build it, test it, run it and own it

Requirements

Must-have skills
• Backend engineering experience: at least 5 years of backend engineering experience in one or more programming languages (Python, Java)
• Team Leadership: at least 1 year of experience in leading teams or projects, including mentoring, code reviews, and owning delivery (we also welcome candidates who are ready to step up to a leadership role)
• Experience with Prompt/Context Engineering is preferred or demonstrate self-learning Prompt/Context Engineering
• System Architecture Design: Strong experience in designing and implementing system architectures, including defining technical solutions and making high-level design decisions
• AI Tools: Proficient with Claude Code, or other autonomous capable coding agent. Comfortable integrating AI tools into the development workflow
• Product-obsessed: You live and breathe product thinking—you're not just here to generate code, but to own the product and drive its success. You focus on solving customer problems and delivering experiences that make a difference
• Customer-focused: You can talk to directly to customers or subject matter experts and ask questions to deeply understand their needs so that you can deliver products that resonate
