AI Clojure Engineer

The Role

We’re looking for an AI Engineer to join our dedicated AI team. You’ll play a key role in shaping how AI enhances Pitch’s core product - from smart content suggestions and automated design assistance to new, intelligent workflows that make presentation creation effortless. This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers across the company to bring innovative AI features to life. You’ll work across the stack, integrating AI systems into Pitch’s Clojure and ClojureScript-based architecture but in this instance we are looking for someone with front-end bias. Whilst we're a clojure/clojurescript shop, we are happy to support you in learning these languages and tools if you have the right experience. Understanding functional programming will be a big advantage. We’re particularly interested in candidates who have some experience building agentic workflows - designing, orchestrating, and evaluating multi-step AI systems that can reason, take actions, and reliably complete complex tasks.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and integrate AI-powered features directly into Pitch’s product experience.
• Work closely with product and design to identify where AI can meaningfully augment user workflows.
• Evaluate, and deploy models for production use.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and backend teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and privacy of AI systems.
• Stay up to date with advancements in generative AI, NLP, and multimodal models - and bring new ideas into the product..

Requirements:
• Proven experience developing and deploying AI or ML systems in production environments.
• A genuine passion for AI - you follow the space closely, experiment with new tools, and think deeply about how AI can elevate user experiences.
• Solid understanding of modern AI/ML techniques, particularly in NLP, generative models, and embeddings.
• Strong programming experience.
• While prior experience with Clojure or ClojureScript is a big plus, it’s not a requirement - we’re happy to help you learn. If you have functional programming experience in languages like F#, Lisp, Haskell etc. - even better.
• Familiarity with APIs and frameworks such as OpenAI, Claude, Fal, etc.
• Experience with prompt engineering, model evaluation, and iterative experimentation.
• Comfortable collaborating in a cross-functional, product-focused team.
• A pragmatic mindset: you care about impact, not just technology.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or multimodal systems.
• Familiarity with building AI-powered user experiences in web applications.
• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or prior work with presentation, productivity, or design tools.
• Experience using AI to architect, develop and validate features.
