Job Description

Role Purpose

The Farmer Trader is responsible for originating agricultural commodities directly from Hungarian farmers, producer groups, and cooperatives, combining local market expertise with commercial trading execution.

Key Responsibilities

Farmers' Origination and Relationship Management

• Build and manage strong commercial relationships with Hungarian farmers and producer organisations
• Negotiate spot and forward purchase contracts
• Ensure repeat business and long-term farmer loyalty Trading & Commercial Execution
• Execute physical trades (spot & forward) in agricultural commodities
• Negotiate prices, volumes, delivery terms, and payment conditions
• Manage margins and commercial exposure in line with trading strategy
• Prepare, negotiate, and conclude contracts with suppliers and buyers
• Origination & Supplier Management
• Develop and maintain direct relationships with farmers, cooperatives, and local suppliers
• Secure reliable volumes and quality at competitive farm-gate prices
• Conduct regular field visits and supplier meetings
• Monitor crop development, harvest progress, and supply risks
• Market Intelligence & Analysis
• Track local and international market movements (MATIF, CBOT, regional markets)
• Monitor weather conditions, crop reports, and competitor activity
• Provide market insights and recommendations to senior management
• Logistics & Operations Coordination
• Coordinate transportation, storage, and delivery with logistics and operations teams
• Liaise with quality control, warehouses, and back-office functions
• Ensure accurate execution of contracts and timely issue resolution

Requirements:
• 3–10+ years experience in agricultural trading or origination in Hungary
• Strong farmer network across key producing regions
• Knowledge of grains and oilseeds (corn, wheat, sunflower, rapeseed)
• Fluent Hungarian; business-level English required
• High field presence; valid driving licence
