Internship Program

This is a full-time, paid internship based out of our headquarters in San Ramon, CA. This role is hybrid. 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in office is required. The program runs 11 weeks with the opportunity to start in early or mid-June.

The Team

Join the NLP Team, where we work to deliver the AI capabilities through natural language processing and machine learning. You'll work closely with experienced applied scientists and machine learning engineers and gain hands-on experience with a full suite of generative AI technologies such as agentic AI frameworks, transformer-based models, and MLOps.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the collection, preprocessing, and quality assurance of datasets to help us improve the AI Capabilities within Five9.

• Support the development and fine-tuning of NLP models/pipelines for tasks such as text classification, clustering, summarization, conversational AI, and retrieval augmented generation using tools like PyTorch, and HuggingFace Transformers.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into production pipelines.

• Participate in evaluating model performance exploiting suitable methodologies and metrics as well as contribute to iterative improvements.

• Stay current with the latest advancements in NLP and machine learning research, contributing ideas that drive innovation.

Qualifications:

• Rising college senior or above, pursuing a post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, or a related field.

• Strong programming skills in Python with hands-on experience or a keen interest in data analysis.

• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn)

• Exposure to generative AI/NLP tools, including transformer-based models and Hugging Face Transformers

• Experience working with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a passion for exploring and applying new technologies in AI.

The hourly compensation for this role is:
$25—$25 USD
