Senior AEM Engineer (React & Headless)

Role Overview

Monks is seeking a Senior AEM Engineer to lead the architecture and development of high-performance web properties. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up new AEM sites from the ground up, leveraging React as a frontend framework while maintaining the highest standards for performance, SEO, and accessibility. You will serve as a technical lead, mentoring a small development team and engaging directly with global stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

AEM Site Architecture: Lead the end-to-end setup of new AEM sites, including project structure, templates, and core components using AEM 6.5 or AEM as a Cloud Service.

React Integration: Implement modern frontend architectures using React with AEM (SPA Editor or Headless) to create dynamic, state-driven user experiences.

Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a small team of developers, conducting code reviews and driving best practices across the project life cycl

Performance & SEO: Optimize sites for Core Web Vitals, ensuring rapid load times, responsive design across all breakpoints, and adherence to SEO best practices.

Accessibility: Guarantee that all digital products meet WCAG 2.1 (Level AA) standards for inclusive user experiences.

Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate directly with client stakeholders to define project roadmaps, providing technical clarity and status updates in English (B2 level or higher).

CI/CD & DevOps: Drive automated deployments and maintain high operational standards for the AEM environment.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a heavy focus on the Adobe Experience Manager ecosystem.

AEM Mastery: Deep knowledge of AEM building blocks (Sling, JCR, OSGi) and experience with AEM Dispatcher and CDN configurations.

Frontend Expertise: Strong proficiency in React.js, Javascript (ES6+), and CSS preprocessors (SASS/LESS).

Web Standards: Proven track record of delivering responsive, accessible, and SEO-optimized websites.

Leadership: Experience leading small teams and managing project deliverables in an Agile environment.

Communication: Strong English communication skills (B2 level or higher) with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

Cloud Experience: Familiarity with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) and Adobe Cloud Manager.

Full Stack Knowledge: Experience with Java-based backend development within AEM.

Certifications: Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) for AEM Sites Developer or Architect.
