Domestic Violence Services (DVS) provides a variety of comprehensive immediate and long-term support services to survivors of Domestic Violence and their families. DVS provides oversight for the largest domestic shelter system in the country which provides safety and services for this vulnerable population. This network of 54 emergency domestic violence shelters provides temporary emergency housing, and supportive services to over 17,500 victims of domestic violence and their children annually. DVS provides oversight and funding for the 24-hour domestic violence hotline. DVS also administers the No Violence Again (NOVA) program located at the DHS intake center, and the Domestic Violence Liaison Unit, which provides domestic violence counseling and intervention at Job Centers. DVS partners with a network of community-based organizations, that provide counseling, legal services, financial development services, and job readiness for domestic violence survivors.

The Advent Domestic Violence Liaison (DVL) Supervisor oversees staff that conducts initial and reassessment interviews for clients seeking services that will ensure safety in the community, including child support waivers, employment waivers, and childcare waivers, enrollment in educational services/ vocational training for parents seeking assistance in the community according to their safe borough assignments.

Domestic Violence Services is recruiting for three (3) Supervisor I (SW), to function as the Advent DVL Supervisor, who will:

- Monitor and track activities on a shared drive for the social work team and case managers to ensure that clients referred through the BAC Center, Office of Child Support Services, and special inter-office requests have been scheduled and assessed for services according to OTDA mandates and timelines and in accordance with HRA policy and procedure; maintaining a tracking system/database of all inquiries/request to the unit and ensure timely entries and updates of the system.

- Conduct supervision of staff to review records, case folders and electronic files, make recommendations, edits, and ensure resolutions of open inquiries. Assign cases and referrals to workers, reporting and documenting issues that need to be addressed at a higher level. Case notes are to be reviewed for accuracy and completion.

- Participate in training, staff meetings with line staff, and supervisory team to share observations regarding workflow, trending issues, and needs of the team. Their expertise may be needed to inform work groups outside of the immediate team.

- Collaborate with the Senior Supervisor II, director, and program administrator to recommend and develop procedures designed to support programs, enhance and maintain efficient and effective services and systems

- Laise with the BAC centers and collaborating programs to ensure the referral flow is without delays in communicating necessary information to clear compliance with program for the client and their families, avoiding sanction statuses with active PA cases and ensuring continuity of services.

SUPERVISOR I SOCIAL WORK - 52631

1. A Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and one year of full-time satisfactory experience practicing social work utilizing one or a combination of casework, group work and community organization methodologies.

2. Certification and License Requirement: A valid Certified Social Worker (CSW) certificate or Licensed Master of Social Work license (LMSW) issued by the New York State Department of Education must be obtained within one year of the date of appointment. Employees who fail to obtain their CSW or LMSW within one year after appointment will automatically have their probationary periods extended for no more than six months. Failure to obtain the CSW or LMSW by the end of 18 months of service will result in dismissal.

3. Special Note: Section 424-a of the New York Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire whether a candidate for employment with child-care responsibilities has been the subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report. The agency has the discretion to assign a candidate who has been the subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report to a position with no child-care responsibilities.
