The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library (WTCPL) is seeking a knowledgeable, service-oriented Full-Time Adult Services Librarian to join our Adult Services Department. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality library services, programs, and collections that meet the needs and interests of our community.
Essential Job Duties
Provides reference and reader’s advisory services to customers of all ages, both in person and via telephone and email.
Instructs users individually and in groups in the use of library materials and equipment, including digital resources and online research tools.
Presents information about library services and programs to individuals and groups.
Prepares displays, bibliographies, flyers, brochures, and other public relations materials as requested.
Plans and presents programs for adults.
Recommends materials for purchase, including books, magazines, and media, based on professional reviews and current customer needs and interests.
Assists with collection maintenance, including inventory, evaluation, and weeding.
Maintains a working knowledge of library materials, trends in public services, and developments in the profession through in-service workshops, meetings, conferences, professional literature, and organizational memberships.
Performs specialized activities related to specific parts of the collection (e.g., periodicals), as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
Knowledge of the principles of collection development.
Knowledge of reference services and best practices.
Knowledge of online and digital resources in a library setting.
Proficiency in using the Internet and various software programs.
Prior public library experience is helpful.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Starting at $22.12 per hour
