Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a dynamic inpatient team in the West Midlands. This role involves working within an acute hospital setting, supporting adult patients with a range of complex communication and swallowing needs.

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload, including general acute patients and those with acute stroke, delivering high-quality assessment and intervention. This is an on-site role (no remote working), ideal for a confident and independent practitioner with strong dysphagia experience.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute inpatient setting.• Independently assess and treat dysphagia, ensuring safe and effective management plans are in place.• Manage a mixed caseload including general acute and stroke patients.• Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to patient care plans and discharge planning.• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).• HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).• Proven experience working within an adult acute setting.• Strong, independent dysphagia management skills.• Experience managing a general acute caseload, ideally including acute stroke patients.• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
