Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a busy acute hospital setting in Sheffield. This role involves working with adult patients presenting with a wide range of acquired neurological conditions, resulting in communication and swallowing difficulties.

You will play a critical role in delivering high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and management of dysphagia and communication disorders within an acute clinical environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist looking to further develop their clinical expertise within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:• Provide assessment, diagnosis, and management for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties in an acute hospital setting.• Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to patients with acquired neurological conditions.• Manage complex dysphagia cases, including patients requiring specialist clinical decision-making.• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support coordinated patient care.• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation to professional and organisational standards.• Contribute to discharge planning, MDT meetings, and ongoing clinical reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the RCSLT.• Proven experience working with adults in an acute hospital setting.• Dysphagia accreditation and experience managing complex dysphagia.• Strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
