Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join an acute inpatient service in a West London hospital. This is a locum position ideal for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with strong clinical skills in acute adult care.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage communication and swallowing disorders for patients with a range of medical and neurological conditions. The successful candidate should be prepared to begin as soon as possible, with the assignment expected to last 2–3 months, with the possibility of extension. Availability over the Christmas period (excluding Bank Holidays) is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties in an acute inpatient setting.
•
Manage a varied caseload involving complex medical and neurological presentations.
•
Deliver evidence-based interventions and make appropriate recommendations to the wider clinical team.
•
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with professional and service standards.
•
Participate in MDT meetings, ward rounds, and discharge planning.
•
Contribute to high-quality patient care within a fast-paced acute environment.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
•
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
•
HCPC registration and eligibility for Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) membership.
•
Experience working in an acute adult setting, ideally managing dysphagia caseloads.
•
Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills.
•
The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
