Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a hospital-based team in Cambridge.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive specialist Speech and Language Therapy services as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with complex communication and swallowing difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist looking to work within an acute setting and further develop advanced clinical skills.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
•
Work independently as an Advanced Practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy, delivering assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with complex speech, communication, and swallowing disorders.
•
Contribute to specialist multidisciplinary teams across cardiothoracic services, providing expert input into patient care.
•
Conduct and interpret instrumental assessments, including Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and videofluoroscopy.
•
Manage patients with tracheostomies, ensuring competencies are maintained.
•
Deliver training and education to staff, carers, and other healthcare professionals as required.
•
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
•
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
•
HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
•
Experience working within an acute adult setting.
•
Competency in instrumental swallowing assessments such as FEES and videofluoroscopy.
•
Experience managing patients with tracheostomies.
•
Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
