Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join the Adult Acute Team at Bedford Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dysphagia-trained clinician to provide specialist assessment and therapy to adult patients within the acute wards.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality speech and language therapy services to patients with communication and swallowing difficulties, working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to support optimal patient recovery and discharge planning.

This position offers flexibility with full-time or part-time hours available, making it ideal for a dedicated professional seeking to contribute their expertise within a supportive NHS setting.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:


Provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of adults with communication and swallowing disorders within an acute hospital environment.


Deliver dysphagia assessments and interventions in line with professional standards and clinical best practice.


Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team.


Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.


Contribute to case discussions, goal setting, and discharge planning.


Support service development and quality improvement initiatives as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:


A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).


Current HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership.


Dysphagia qualification and recent clinical experience managing adults with swallowing disorders in an acute setting.


Strong communication and teamwork skills.


The ability to work autonomously and manage a clinical caseload effectively.
