POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles plays a key leadership role within the organization, working alongside the Director of Nursing to oversee and support the daily operations of the nursing department while promoting excellence in patient care.
In this role, the ADON provides leadership and support to the nursing team through staff scheduling, supervision, training, coaching, and performance management. They assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, help ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards, and contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and therapeutic environment for both patients and staff.
The ADON at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles is actively involved in monitoring patient care, addressing clinical concerns, supporting nursing staff in daily operations, and promoting the delivery of compassionate, high-quality care. This position also requires close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and continuity of care across all departments.
Additionally, the ADON assists with staffing coordination, operational oversight, and departmental leadership, confidently stepping in to support the Director of Nursing when needed. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent clinical judgment, communication abilities, organizational skills, and a genuine passion for supporting both patients and healthcare professionals while contributing to the mission and growth of Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Registered Nurse for at least 5 years with a minimum of 3 years of past working experience in clinical psychiatric/mental health nursing care, with MSN oversight.
License: RN License through the Louisiana state board of nursing
Experience: 3 years of management in mental health nursing
