Purpose:
Federated Humane Societies of Pennsylvania is dedicated to connecting Pennsylvania’s animal shelters and rescues with one another and advocating on their behalf. The goal of Federated is to develop funding opportunities and promote legislation to support Pennsylvania’s shelters.
Position Overview:
The Administrative Director at Federated Humane Societies of Pennsylvania will be responsible for overseeing the administrative functions of the association as well as working with the Executive Committee to develop and implement the priorities of the association.
Essential Functions:
Communication
Build trust and promote positive communication with animal shelters in Pennsylvania
Develop relationships with funders and state legislators
Create and implement goals and legislative priorities with the executive committee
Advocate for Pennsylvania animal shelters
Gather and report relevant impact data for different stakeholder groups
Maintain and publish an updated membership directory and disseminate relevant updates and information to shelter members
Coordinate with media, respond to media requests, and manage public-facing communications for the association
Financial
Manage donations and membership fees
Outsource monthly, quarterly, and annual business taxes
Work with accountants for annual audit and/or financial review
Pay all invoices and prepare financial reports for board review
Prepare an annual budget for board approval
Support grant submissions to diversify revenue streams
Maintain all required registrations and licenses for the association
Administrative
Schedule meetings for the executive committee and shelter members
Update and maintain website and social media pages
Develop a membership program for animal shelters and rescues and recruit members
Organize and maintain records
Coordinate the planning and execution of events, including a one-day summit and eventually a multi-day annual state conference
Education or Experience:
Experience writing for a political audience
Proficiency in relevant software (QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, Donor Database)
Proficiency in website and social media management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven experience in non-profit management, shelter management preferred
Excellent organization skills
Experience planning events
Legislative experience preferred
Working Conditions and Environment:
Remote position with occasional travel to York County SPCA and Harrisburg, PA
May require some evenings and/or weekends
Salary and Benefits – this position is housed with the York County SPCA
$50,000 starting salary per year, paid biweekly, direct deposit available.
York County SPCA health care costs, vision, and dental benefits are included.
The York County SPCA offers retirement benefits with a dollar-for-dollar match up to a maximum of three percent (3%) of your salary per year. The organization offers a SIMPLE IRA.
