Job Description
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for an Administrative Assistant in its Survivor Services Bureau (SSB). In this position the Administrative Assistant will provide support to (SSB). The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Bureau and Deputy Chiefs and is responsible for coordinating and maintaining staff schedules, monitoring phone calls, assisting case assignments and for providing training and support to staff around SSB operational needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist SSB Leadership with sending out staff assignment schedules, billing, orders, grant statistics, answering the SSB mainline, and ordering supplies.
- Manage the front desk, greeting and signing in visitors. Coordinating incoming case assignments through IVANTI, email/phone requests and walk ins.
- Update and maintain SSB spreadsheets and WitCare for statistics management.
- Monitor email requests for SSB support and file look ups for disclosure requests.
- Assist with various bureau-related projects and reports as necessary.
- Attend to other miscellaneous responsibilities relating to the Bureau’s efficient coordination, including acting as a back up to Survivor Services Associates as needed.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
- Highly skilled in standard computer operating systems and software (Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong ability to learn new software.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Superior organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Strong attention to detail and self-motivator.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff and external agencies.
- Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.

- Monday – Friday, from 8:30 am-4:30 pm; 9 am – 5 pm; and 9:30 am-5:30 pm (Shift rotations)
Additional Information:
- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least one (1) year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
- Looking for candidates that could commit to one (1) year to the hiring unit
- Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
