About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Nelson laboratory is offering an exciting opportunity for a permanent, part-time Administrator to join the Histology team. Reporting to the Head of Department, you will support a culture of continuous improvement and a solutions-focused mindset, ensuring high standards of quality and service.
You will play a key role in specimen handling and client support. Working collaboratively within the team, you will assist storage and filing of histology specimens, typing of dictations, return to patient processes and handling various specimen related queries. This role suits someone who is friendly, approachable, and has excellent customer service skills
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, accession and log histology specimens in the LIS, prioritising urgent samples.
Organise administrative workload to support turnaround times.
Check request forms for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Generate worklists and enter data accurately on the LIS
Track specimen workflow and respond to case queries.
Maintain accurate records in line with departmental policies.
Record equipment servicing and escalate issues as required.
Monitor and order consumables to maintain stock levels.
