Why Join Us?
Welcome to TAL. As a leading life insurer, we’ve been protecting Australians for over 150 years. Backed by Daiichi Life, we're driven by big ambitions and empower to create better products and services.
Together with our Partners, we’re helping millions of Australians live a life filled with choices, options, and freedoms. See the direct impact you make delivering support and financial security with care and expertise. Grow beyond expectations with diverse roles, global connections, and exclusive learning opportunities.
Work with passionate, bright and capable colleagues. Feel inspired by supportive leaders. Collaborate with heart, where flexibility, wellbeing and inclusivity is valued. Together, we're reimagining insurance.
Finance at TAL spans performance analysis, expense management, capital management, accounting and compliance, and financial systems — connecting the numbers to the decisions that shape Australia's largest life insurer.
As an Actuarial Graduate, you will join our Finance Actuarial Pathways Program — a structured rotation through multiple areas of the Finance function, designed to build well-rounded actuarial professionals with deep foundational skills.
Rather than a single-team placement, you will rotate through different disciplines over the course of the program, gaining hands-on experience across valuation, financial modelling, reporting, data analytics, and stakeholder engagement. Each rotation is designed to give you enough time to genuinely learn the work and contribute meaningfully — not just observe.
TAL strongly encourages graduates to complete their actuarial qualifications and provides substantial support, including study assistance, dedicated study time, and exam leave, to help you succeed. You will also be supported through mentorship and buddy programs, alongside tailored career guidance to help you grow as a future leader within TAL.
Throughout the Graduate Program, you will develop experience across the following:
• Performing end-to-end monthly valuation processes, from data acquisition through to reporting
• Financial modelling using industry tools and supporting system development
• Analysing and communicating complex actuarial results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Supporting compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements
• Driving continuous improvement in processes and ways of working
• Building foundational knowledge of actuarial and accounting standards
• A strong academic record (distinction average or above) in a mathematical or finance field ideally with a major in Actuarial studies.
• Completion of an undergraduate or post-graduate degree by the end of 2026 or within the last two years.
• A strong desire to work in the life insurance industry.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• A well-rounded background with experience across community and/or extra-curricular activities.
• Leadership qualities developed through high school, university, work experience and/or extracurricular activities.
• Initiative and drive, together with the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.

To apply, you must be an Australian/New Zealand Citizen or have Permanent Residency and have completed an undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree in the last two years or complete prior to the program start date. Please note, this is a Sydney-based role.
