We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity / Direct Support Professional (DSP) - up to 1 year contract to join our team. In this role, you will support an individual with developmental disabilities to participate in meaningful activities, build independence, and engage in their community through recreational and social experiences. This posting is for an existing vacancy within the organization. 

Some of the key responsibilities include:

Research and organize community events and activities tailored specifically to the unique interests, preferences, and developmental goals of the individuals we support

Provide support during activities to ensure the individual’s safety and meaningful participation

Arrange or directly provide safe transportation to and from community events, ensuring punctuality and accessibility

Ensure the individual’s physical and emotional well-being during outings, advocating for their needs and preferences in public settings

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least 2 courses in the human services field.

Familiarity with Passport Funding guidelines (MCCSS) is a significant asset

Must be available week days, evenings and weekends

Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.

First Aid/CPR and Safe Management certificates are an asset.

Prior experience working with people that have an intellectual disability is an asset.

Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to work collaboratively.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written).

Must have a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
