Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles is a growing psychiatric hospital dedicated to serving both adult and geriatric populations. We take pride in fostering a compassionate, collaborative environment that prioritizes both patient care and team support. Since opening our first facility in 2015 in Magnolia, Mississippi, we have expanded to 12 locations across Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
As we continue to grow, we are actively expanding our Lake Charles team in preparation for increasing our capacity to a total of 42 beds, serving both adult and geriatric patients.

An Activities Coordinator at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading therapeutic and recreational activities that support patients’ mental, emotional, and social well-being.
They create structured daily schedules that may include activities to support group therapy, music, exercise, life skills training, and social interaction opportunities. The coordinator designs these activities to help patients improve their coping skills, reduce stress, build confidence, and encourage positive behaviors. The coordinator works closely with the clinical team (doctors, nurses, and therapists) to make sure that activities are in line with each patient’s treatment plan and mental health status. They also monitor patient participation, document progress, and adjust activities based on individual needs and safety considerations. In addition, they help maintain a safe and supportive environment, encourage patient engagement, and foster a sense of community within the hospital. Strong communication, creativity, empathy, and organizational skills are essential in this role.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: High School Degree.
License: Supervision of a licensed and or certified recreation therapist, or a professional who
holds education/experience and certification course work as indicated by state mandate
Experience: One year experience performing functional activy duties in a Healthcare setting.
