Job Description
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial data used for the monthly close process and entered into the general ledger. In addition, the Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of client billing including accuracy, timing and rate verification.
Required Skills
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information for monthly and year end close.
• Work with clients to answer any questions regarding invoicing or billing rates.
• Resolve billing discrepancies with direct contact with clients.
• Review client billing for accuracy.
• Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the course and scope of monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
• Respond to inquiries from the SVP of Finance, Controller, and other operational managers regarding financial results.
• Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
• Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
• Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
• Support SVP of Finance and Controller with special projects.
Required Experience
EDUCATION:
• BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA required
EXPERIENCE:
• 5 to 7 years supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel.
$70,000 to $80,000 plus bonus
