The Role

Accounting Specialist with US-based DTC experience

We're seeking an Accounting Specialist with US-based DTC experiencer to manage our day-to-day financial operations and provide the financial foundation that supports our growth. This is a strategic finance role requiring e-commerce + retail experience in the US market—not basic bookkeeping.

This is not just a bookkeeping role—we need someone who can think strategically about our finances, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure we maintain healthy cash flow and financial practices as we expand.

What You'll Do

Financial Operations

• Manage full-cycle AP/AR and own the finance inbox
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processors (Shopify, PayPal, Stripe)
• Process invoices, payments, and vendor relationships
• Maintain accurate financial records with end-to-end bookkeeping accuracy

Strategic Finance

• Develop monthly/annual budgets and forecast cash flow
• Monitor spending vs. budget and flag variances
• Track COGS, marketing spend, and operational expenses
• Understand inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and multi-channel sales (DTC + retail/wholesale)

Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Track key e-commerce metrics (CAC, AOV, margins)
• Provide actionable insights to leadership
• Support year-end tax prep and maintain audit-ready documentation

Collaboration

• Work closely with external CFO and accounting partners
• Coordinate with tax professionals as needed
• Ensure compliance with tax obligations and filing deadlines

Requirements:
Required Qualifications

• Proven Controller or senior accounting experience in e-commerce + retail
• US market experience required
• Strong understanding of e-commerce financials: payment processors, shipping costs, inventory, sales tax
• QuickBooks Online (QBO) proficiency – mandatory
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets for financial modeling
• Experience with Shopify and multi-channel sales operations
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent English communication skills

• Bill.com experience
• Accounting certification (CPA, CMA)
• Beauty/skincare/luxury brand experience
• Multi-currency and international payments knowledge
• Sales tax compliance expertise (Nexus, filing)
