POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is a senior-level professional responsible for overseeing EnerStar Solution Inc.’s accounting operations and reporting. This includes managing accounting records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This individual plays a key role in supporting leadership & ownership with hands-on financial management and operational oversite.

The Accounting Manager will drive organizational effectiveness and profitability as a leader within the Accounting Department. This position is expected to have an opportunity for advancement into further management roles within 18 months. Advancement will be determined by the capability of the successful candidate.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Work safely or not at all. Value and follow all safe work practices, company policies, and client worksite regulations.

Champion EnerStar Guiding Values.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities with note disclosure and related MD&A.

Manage compliance (GAAP, Tax, etc.) and ensure financial statement assertions are upheld within all reporting.

Assist in guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures as set out by the Executive Team.

Create and prepare divisional monthly reporting.

Assist in overseeing month-end close to ensure timely financial reporting and analysis is distributed to executives and managers.

Assist in the consolidation of subsidiaries.

Complete reconciliations and support all Balance Sheet items monthly.

Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.

Manage the flow of information to auditors for quarterly reporting and annual audits.

Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including divisional P&L, Utilization Reports, and Labour Challenge analysis.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Assess and improve current accounting operations and systems.

Develop and monitor business performance metrics and KPIs in coordination with the Director & CFO.

Perform additional responsibilities as identified and assigned.

Travel: The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by EnerStar Solutions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting is required

CPA designation or current enrolment within the CPA program required

Experience:

3+ years related experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls

Experience with accounting software (Quickbooks required) and reporting tools (FieldCap, Vena considered an asset)

Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables

Ability to clearly communicate goals and expectations to team members

Regulated, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented - focused on business impact and continuous improvement while maintaining accuracy and compliance

Collaborative mindset, able to influence and work effectively with multiple teams and personalities across the organization

High attention to detail paired with the ability to maintain oversight of broader objectives

Prior experience working in both Canada and the USA is considered an asset
