Position Title: Accounting Generalist
JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Generalist will work under the supervision of the Director of Finance. Responsible for completing all payroll functions, accounts payable and receivable functions, maintaining accurate financial records, completing general ledger account analyses and assisting with financial month end closing responsibilities. A combination of technical aptitude, analytical skills, excellent communication skills and great attention to detail are critical to the success of this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of bi-monthly payroll and Agency’s accounts receivable (A/R) and/or accounts payable (A/P).
2. Ensure accurate completion of payroll processing and reporting in accordance with federal, state, and local tax laws, and Agency policies and procedures.
3. Ensure payroll tax reporting and remittance are timely and in compliance with applicable tax laws and all payroll accounts are reconciled timely and accurately.
4. Resolve any payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. Provide employees with answers to payroll-related questions.
5. Preparation of year end W2, Miscellaneous 1099 and other end-of-year reporting requirements. Prepares retirement forms including application for additional credit, completes employment verifications, completes social security forms.
6. Process and verify incoming payments, ensuring accuracy and proper coding in accounting software. Prepare and record journal entries related to accounts receivable deposits and transactions.
7. Review exception reports and coordinates and resolves inaccurate information and processes.
8. Evaluate and document business procedures related to payroll, A/R and A/P processes. Assist in improving internal processes related to payroll, billing, tracking, and revenue capture.
9. Responsible for State Pension enrollment, contributions, changes, reporting and other retirement records. Calculate and reconcile monthly pension and quarterly funding.
10. Maintains the highest standards of data integrity and quality throughout the Agency’s data collection to reporting. Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to all payroll & financial information.
11. Abide by all fiscal and Agency policies and procedures.
12. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
2. Detail-oriented and highly organized with outstanding time management skills.
3. Self-directed and independent with the ability to work well on a team.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel & Access.
5. Strong professional communication skills with a focus on customer service.
6. Analytical and mathematical aptitude.
7. Ability to maintain confidential information.
8. Able to meet and maintain pre-employment drug screen and background checks requirements.
