The Accounting Assistant plays a key role in supporting the firm’s long-term growth and capability building. This position is ideal for someone eager to develop into a high-performing accounting professional, gaining exposure to diverse clients and industries within public practice.
Working within clearly defined standards and performance expectations, the role supports the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality financial work. The Accounting Assistant collaborates closely with the team, contributes proactively, and takes ownership of tasks while continuously building technical expertise and professional capability.
Main duties include:
• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for various entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax regulations.
• Assist in tax reconciliations, compliance requirements, and identifying client queries for review.
• Support business advisory services, including financial analysis and exposure to Virtual CFO and tax planning activities.
• Manage jobs within agreed budgets and deadlines, maintaining proactive and timely communication.
• Build strong professional relationships with clients and team members while demonstrating initiative, accountability, and high professional standards.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting packages i.e. Xero, MYOB, APS (XPM highly desirable, but not essential).
• Up to 1 year of Australian Public Practice experience (preferrable)
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
