You’ve found a place that values your curiosity, passion, and desire to work alongside brilliant people on the things that really matter. There really is only one question: What impact do YOU want to make?

The team you’ll join

Our purpose is to partner with Māori organisations and leaders to advance intergenerational aspirations and outcomes grounded in tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We work alongside iwi, hapū, whānau, Māori incorporations, trusts, post‑settlement governance entities and Māori‑owned businesses, supporting them to grow and protect pūtea, taonga, assets and enterprises while upholding kaupapa Māori values.

You will be part of a team where cultural capability is not optional. We expect our people to engage respectfully and confidently in Māori spaces, understand Māori governance contexts, and contribute to strengthening Māori economic and social outcomes. Anchored from our Deloitte Rotorua office and Hourua Pae Rau team supporting clients and communities across New Zealand with a particular focus on iwi and private clients. Our passionate and expert team also administers several Māori incorporations and includes significant representation from Hourua Pae Rau, Deloitte New Zealand’s dedicated Māori services team.

The impact you’ll make

You will actively contribute to Māori aspirations by applying both technical excellence and cultural understanding. This includes supporting mana-enhancing relationships, acknowledging the role of tikanga and kawa in decision‑making, and helping Māori organisations balance commercial success with cultural, social and environmental outcomes.

This is your chance to develop your skills within an innovative, high-performing organisation that will provide a supportive environment that is committed to its people. You’ll have opportunities to continuously build your cultural capability, including te reo Māori, understanding Māori business, and engaging appropriately with Māori leadership and governance.

Your typical day may include

• Managing a portfolio of Māori sector clients
• Building trusted relationships with Māori governors and executives
• Preparing financial statements, tax returns and management accounts
• Providing business advice to leading Māori organisations
• Supporting governance reporting; and contributing to kaupapa‑driven initiatives that strengthen Māori outcomes

Your expertise

In addition to strong accounting and advisory capability, this role requires a demonstrated commitment to working in and for the Māori sector.

You’ll also bring:

• CA qualification (or working towards)
• 3+ years’ experience in accounting or business advisory
• Experience working with Māori organisations or significant exposure to kaupapa Māori environments
• Cultural competence and confidence engaging with Māori stakeholders
• Willingness to continue developing cultural capability, including te reo Māori and tikanga knowledge
• Strong relationship‑building skills and technology capability, including Xero

How you’ll be rewarded:

We hold a simple belief – that our people’s hard work should be recognised and rewarded beyond their remuneration. The Deloitte experience is founded on concepts of trust, balance, wellbeing and the importance of personal connection.

We offer you:

• Flexible work arrangements – work in a way that suits you, us and our clients best

• 22 days annual leave
• Social events, social sports teams, and monthly firm drinks
