Accountant - EST Working Hours (Remote)

Our client is an established international financial services and accounting firm that provides comprehensive bookkeeping, financial reporting, and analysis services to businesses across multiple industries. They have a growing South African team that supports their global accounting operations.

We are looking for a detail-driven Accountant to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will have solid accounting fundamentals, hands-on experience with journal entries and reconciliations, and be proficient in QuickBooks Online and Excel. You’ll be part of a collaborative team delivering high-quality accounting outputs for a global client base.

PLEASE NOTE:

• Working Hours: This role requires you to work EST hours Mon - Fri from 9am to 6pm EST (15h00 to 24h00 South African time - subject to change in accordance with daylight savings in the United States).
• Public Holidays: This role requires you to work on both South African and US public holidays (compensation for SA public holidays in accordance with the BCEA)
• Internet Requirements: A fixed fibre line with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps (upload & download) and the ability to support a wired Ethernet connection is mandatory. Applicants without a fixed fibre line cannot be considered.
• Power Backup: A reliable power backup solution is required to manage load shedding and power outages. Applicants without a power backup cannot be considered.
• Work Environment: This is a fully remote working role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Perform bank and account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
• Review financial data for accuracy and completeness
• Maintain accounting records in QuickBooks Online
• Prepare supporting schedules and reports as required
• Collaborate with team leads to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 2 years’ accounting experience (bookkeeping, reconciliations, journal entries, etc.)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and journal entries
• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Benefits:
Basic Salary: R23 500 - R29 500 monthly + retention bonuses after 6 months and yearly.
