Access Control Service Engineer (Security Systems)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum + Company Vehicle + Benefits About the Role
The Wiggett Group is seeking an experienced Access Control Service Engineer to deliver planned servicing, reactive maintenance, and fault repairs across our social housing contracts in London. This role is heavily service and maintenance focused, working on live occupied properties, ensuring access control systems remain fully operational, compliant, and safe for residents. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and maintaining a high standard of customer service while representing the Wiggett Group on site. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working autonomously in the field, and developing their career within a growing Fire & Security division.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance of access control systems
Diagnose and rectify faults on access control systems as part of reactive works
Attend emergency call-outs to restore system functionality promptly
Work on associated systems where required, including:
Door entry & intercom systems
Magnetic locks, strikes, keypads, fobs & proximity readers
Basic CCTV and intruder alarm interfaces
Ensure all works are completed in line with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and health & safety regulations
Test systems following repairs or servicing to confirm full operation
Complete accurate job reports, service records, and compliance documentation
Communicate clearly with residents, housing officers, and internal teams
Work closely with supervisors and other engineers to manage workload and priorities
Requirements
Proven experience as a Security / Access Control Service Engineer
Strong background in fault finding, servicing, and reactive maintenance
Hands-on experience with access control systems (standalone & networked)
Knowledge of health & safety practices and site working in occupied properties
Ability to work independently and manage your own daily workload
Strong customer service and communication skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable (but not essential):
City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent Security Systems qualification
Experience working within social housing or local authority contracts
