Apave America Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Senior API 653 Inspector for a nested position in Houston, TX! We offer competitive pay, full benefits, and 401k w/ Company match!
As a Senior API 653 Inspector you will plan, supervise, and perform internal and external visual inspections and nondestructive examination on above ground storage tanks in accordance with the API 653 standards and requirements, as well as provide client with technical recommendations for the repair, re-rate, replacement, and/or alteration of plant equipment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and or review comprehensive storage tank inspection reports; Submit to client technically accurate reports documenting the condition of tank equipment
Have broad knowledge base relating to tank inspection and repair of aboveground storage tanks, and satisfy the minimum qualifications specified in API Standard 653: Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration, and Reconstruction
Provide client with technical recommendations for the repair, re-rate, replacement, and/or alteration of tank equipment, as required for safe operation within stated operating parameters for durations specified by client
Provide technical input to client as required for welding and metallurgical issues
Provide technical guidance, on an application of non-destructive examination techniques and procedures
Fully comply with all Apave America Inc. and client safe work practices and actively participate in all site safety initiatives
Interpret regulations, codes and industry standards
Travel to sites as needed.
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in tank inspection is required
Current valid certification to American Petroleum Institute Standard API 653 is required
Experience with MFL Scanning, Vacuum Box, and Settlement Surveys required
API 510 and or 570 certifications will be considered an asset
Active CWI certification is a plus
NDT Level II MT/PT/UTT Certifications considered an asset
In-depth working knowledge of API 653 and ASME standards required
Working knowledge of API 510 and or 570 and ASME standards considered an asset
Experience working in direct support of petrochemical facility engineers
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Software: Outlook, Word, Excel, and various IDMS platforms
Valid Driver’s License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required
Pre-employment background checks will be required
Valid TWIC Card required
Work Conditions:
Position is based out of a branch or client site location
Field duties require indoor and or outdoor work in a plant atmosphere
Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel
Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
Working in extreme heat and or cold indoor and or outdoor weather conditions
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Move, carry, and lift objects 50 lbs. or more.
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb.
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing tanks, ladders, scaffolding, towers, piping systems, catwalks, structural steel, and wind turbines.
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively
Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to investigations
Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine in-field or office job duties
Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform in-field or office job duties
Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders or stairwells
