Job Summary
The Safety Technician is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for employees in a variety of work environments and industries. This position involves working closely with clients, employees, supervisors, and management to identify, evaluate, and eliminate safety hazards. The Safety Technician also creates and implements safety programs, provides safety training, and conducts safety inspections.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Perform hazard assessments and evaluate workplace environments;
Perform audits and observations utilizing Apave America's (IRISNDT) safety software to maintain compliance with our safety policies and procedures;
Support the needs of Apave America (IRISNDT) staff in the field and liaison between the customer and the company;
Report incidents and near misses to maintain compliance with Apave America (IRISNDT) and OSHA regulations;
Communicate safety needs and messages to Apave America (IRISNDT) staff on a daily basis;
Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations;
Inspect facilities, equipment, and operations to identify potential safety hazards;
Provide safety training to employees and management on a regular basis;
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans;
Monitor safety performance in the workplace and provide feedback to employees and management;
Maintain safety records and documentation;
Develop safety incentive programs;
Provide direction, leadership, safety data interpretation, and technical assistance;
Develop a strong safety culture within the workforce;
Provide input and assistance in the development of safety budgets;
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or related field;
At least 3 years of experience in a safety role;
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to interact professionally with various levels of employees and the client;
Strong leadership and team training skills;
Ability to be effective in fast-paced environments and high-pressure situations;
Able to work independently and as part of a team;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office application;
Physical Requirements
• Able to use computers and monitors for extended periods daily, required to sit, stand, walk, use hand to touch, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear;
• Occasional lift, carry, maneuver, stack up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb.
• Remain constantly active throughout shift.
• Vision abilities: close vision & distance vision.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
