Position Summary:
Apave America Inc is seeking a skilled and motivated Rope Access Advanced UT Technician to join our team. In this role, you will utilize advanced rope access techniques and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to inspect and assess critical structural components. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments. This position requires 100% travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):
Perform NDT inspections using advanced ultrasonic methods such as Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Time of Flight Testing (ToFT)
Assess structural integrity and detect defects in composite materials and welds.
Prepare detailed reports of findings, including photographic evidence.
Rope Access Operations:
Execute tasks safely using rope access techniques in accordance with IRATA or SPRAT standards.
Rig and inspect anchor systems to ensure secure rope access setup.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to protect yourself and team members.
Conduct site-specific hazard assessments, including Job Site Analysis (JSA).
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
Equipment Maintenance and Documentation:
Maintain, inspect, and calibrate NDT equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Record inspection results and maintain accurate documentation of certifications, equipment usage, and findings.
Communicate inspection outcomes to supervisors, clients, and team members.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with site supervisors, clients, and other technicians to complete projects on time and to a high standard.
Assist in training and mentoring less experienced technicians as required.
Contribute to a positive team environment while upholding safety as a priority.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Must be at a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
IRATA and/or SPRAT Level 1/2/3 is required
Valid NDT certifications in one or more methods (e.g., PAUT, TOFT) is required
Valid driver's license and clean driving record is required
Proven experience conducting NDT inspections, preferably in rope access environments
Familiarity with interpreting codes, standards, and specifications for NDT methods
Pre-employment background checks will be required
Valid TWIC Card or the ability to obtain a valid TWIC Card
Technical Skills:
Competence in setting up and calibrating NDT equipment
Ability to interpret technical drawings, inspection data, and test results
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Work Conditions:
Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in diverse industrial environments with varying climate conditions
Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors, client personnel and a wide range of stakeholders
Working in a plant and/or shop area around production machinery with extreme noise levels
Work from various levels of heights and/or confined spaces for long periods of time
Wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection (PPE)
May require working from heights at 250’ or greater
Travel to different job sites as needed, sometimes on short notice
May require shiftwork (days, evenings, nights)
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to lift, move, and carry objects weighing 75lbs. or greater
Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, and climb
Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing tanks, ladders, scaffolding, towers, piping systems, catwalks, structural steel, and wind turbines
Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping
Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and/or cold
Work in and near industrial hazards
Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties
Remain consistently active throughout shift
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing and other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively
Sufficient vision (close vision and distance vision) or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to investigate
Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform routine in-field or office duties

Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection (PPE)
Excellent physical fitness and the ability to endure prolonged outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Comfort working from heights at 250’ or greater
