Who will I be working with? In support of Inflow's contract with the Government, you will be working alongside federal employees and other government contractors. You will be supporting the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the Department of Defense (DOD).
What level Clearance do I need? You must possess an active Secret clearance.
What will I be doing? Section 508 was made part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 in 1998. Its purpose is to “…require Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology (EIT) accessible to people with disabilities.” You will be reviewing electronic documents, including websites, for Section 508 compliance, and assisting the publication specialists and other OIG employees with developing Section 508-compliant products. In addition, you will:
Assist in developing a comprehensive Section 508 compliance program by ensuring that compliance with Section 508 are consistent with federal, departmental policies, and industry best practices
Serve as Section 508 coordinator and subject matter expert (SME) on all 508 issues
Provide guidance on technical issues involving Section 508 as it relates to the OIG web sites and all electronic media
Recommend and implement a workflow system to ensure Section 508 compliance is part of DoD OIG websites and report publication development process
Review procedures and provide recommendations for improving process for all OIG web sites. Make the necessary technical modifications and corrections to ensure maximum Section 508 compliance and support the goal of reaching 100% compliance.
Monitor and recommend changes in laws, regulations, policies, standards, guidance, technology, and other developments that affect Section 508 compliance
Review procedures and provide recommendations for improving Section 508 compliance on all DOD OIG internal and external websites
Participate in weekly and quarterly meetings regarding release of public information, website management, and Section 508 compliance
Develop component level training programs to instruct both web and publications specialists on how to develop Section 508 compliant products
Liaise with OIG personnel as required to ensure 508 compliance guidelines are effectively translated into OIG editing and quality standards
Other duties as required
What experience, training, and education do I need?
You must meet the minimum requirements:
2-5+ years of experience with managing 508 Compliance
AS or AA degree or equivalent experience
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat DC, Adobe 508 Editor and tools
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products
Active Secret clearance
The following is preferred:
Bachelors Degree
Familiarity with PAC 2024 for 508 Compliance
Where is the client site that I would be working for? You will be working in Alexandria, VA. Address disclosed after your clearance is verified. Currently this position is hybrid, onsite 3 days a week, with a couple days a week telework.
