The Expense Oversight CoE supports financial oversight across investment funds and continuously improves how expense data is processed, reviewed, and controlled. A key part of our mission is to map workflows, identify manual tasks that can be automated, and deliver robust automation solutions that improve data efficiency, process resilience, and data quality. We build solutions using Python, VBA, and Excel-based tooling, test them with users, gather feedback, and iterate. As an Intern focused on Process Automation, you’ll partner with fund expense oversight specialists to translate operational needs into practical automation and analytics tools.

• Real-world experience delivering automation into a production operational environment, with a focus on efficiency, robustness, and data quality.
• Exposure to enterprise guardrails for Python tooling and how business users run compliant automation (including the firm’s governance approach).
• Understanding how automation supports oversight activities across fund expense processes and related initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

You will work on a mix of automation engineering and fund operations support, including:

Process automation & tooling

• Map existing workflows and identify manual steps suitable for automation; document “as is” vs “to be” processes.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python and/or VBA to improve data handling and process flows.
• Support automation initiatives such as macro-based invoice checking and enhancements that reduce manual touchpoints.
• Participate in building or improving automation related to TER review and other expense oversight routines.

Operational enablement (fund expense oversight context)

• Assist with structured data preparation and checks that support oversight activities such as expense verification and monitoring.
• Help with automation-enabled activities tied to budgeting/monitoring variances where your solutions improve accuracy and timeliness.

Governance & controls

• Follow internal governance requirements; contribute to automation in a way that supports approved controls and compliant execution.

Program dates: 1st July 2026 – 30th November 2026

You must be available to participate in the program in person in Poland, starting from day one and for its full duration. Additionally, you are required to work from the office 4 days a week.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Current student (or recent graduate) in Computer Science, Data/Business Analytics, Finance with strong programming component, Engineering, or similar.
• Demonstrated capability in Excel and at least one of:• VBA (macros, user-defined functions, automation), or
• Python (data processing, automation scripts).

• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to translate business problems into automation logic.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience with data libraries (e.g., pandas) or building lightweight tooling for operational teams.
• Familiarity with controls mindset / auditability (logging, versioning, repeatable outputs).
• Interest in asset management operations / investment fund structures.

What happens next?

Our recruitment team in India will review your application. Applicants selected to move forward will have a phone screening with the recruitment team. candidates who successfully pass the phone screen will be invited for a final round interview at our offices.

Minimum Salary:​

zł60,000 Annual

The minimum salary quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate ultimately works outside of this primary location, the applicable minimum salary may differ.​

Salary will be determined based on factors such as the position, type of work performed, individual skills, job description, working hours, diligence, initiative, self-management, length of employment, availability, and the quantity and quality of work delivered, as well as other objective and non-discriminatory criteria relevant to State Street employees.​

In addition to salary, employees are eligible to be considered for discretionary annual performance-based awards.​
