45Drives is a division of Protocase that designs, manufactures, and sells ultra-large, customizable storage servers. We’re known for our open designs and close relationships with the open-source software community—values that influence everything from our product development to our technical support. About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a motivated Solutions Specialist Co-op Student to join our team for a 16-week term. In this role, you’ll work alongside engineers, software developers, and data storage architects—and even interact directly with our customers. You’ll help solve challenging problems, deliver exceptional technical support, and gain hands-on experience in a Linux-based, open-source-driven environment. No two days will be alike, and that’s exactly how we like it.
About You
Enrolled in IT or Computer Science program at NSCC or Dalhousie University, with requirement for a co-op work term
Comfortable speaking and interacting over the phone.
Experience providing customer service, especially over the phone, and through Remote Desktop
Experience in Linux Storage Systems and Networking.
Strong Problem-solving skills and Troubleshooting
Strong verbal and written communication skills
People-driven personality
Willingness to learn new things
Above all else, we are looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative in order to help people and solve complex problems within a busy environment, where no two days are alike!
What You’ll Be Doing (with guidance from your leadership team)
Providing customer service and technical advice under the guidance of your leadership to new and existing customers of varying degrees of technical skill, post-sale. This includes commissioning and maintenance of their storage solution.
Troubleshooting 45Drives and other hardware platforms remotely
Troubleshooting 45Drives software stack in a Linux environment.
Working with our 45Drives service ticket system.
Providing feedback to Research and Development team regarding improvement to application design.
Compensation & Term Details
Wage: $19/hour CAD
Hours: 40 hours/week
Term Length: 16 weeks
Performance-based incentives may be available after completing entry-level training.
