About the Role

The Assistant Shift Operator will be a key member of the Operations team, responsible for assisting the Shift Operator, and direct supervision of the Loader Operator in the efficient and safe operation of the plant and the system. We are seeking a hardworking individual who is passionate about decarbonization and has a desire to play an active role in the transition to clean energy

Duties & Responsibilities

The position is required work on 12 hours rotating shift

The Shift Engineer 3rd Class Operating Engineer will be responsible for their shift and the direct
supervision of any staff or contractors working in the plant during their shift.

Operate and maintain all equipment at the plant including but not limited to 4 boilers, water
treatment systems, computer control systems (DCS) and other plant related equipment.

 Monitor site requirements for steam supply and pressure.

 Perform all regular checks on plant equipment as required.

Operation of the plant, distribution system and any related equipment.

Participate in regular cleaning of the plant and the equipment.

 Perform all duties consistent with safe work practices as is generally practiced in industrial
environments and in accordance with Enwave’s safety practices, policies, and procedures.

Approve the issue of safe work permits to plant maintenance personnel and outside contractors in
accordance with the Company’s safety policies.

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the company’s safety policies.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Hold a 3rd Class Operating Engineer Certificate, Ontario

Preferably five (5) years refrigeration experience and good trouble-shooting skills are an asset.

Experience with centrifugal chillers, pumps and steam condensing turbines

Must be able to work independently when required and be able to make and implement operational decisions while on shift.

Experience with Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook

This position will have direct contact with service contractors, suppliers, inspectors (insurance and government) and customers.

Able to multi-task and operate computerized equipment.

Able to troubleshoot, perform corrective action and minor repairs

Maintain logs, complete PM’s, work safely, monitor and inspect equipment

Work at heights, and able to use elevating platforms and Genie booms

Work in a noisy environment with steam turbines and generators

Attendance, punctuality, appearance, strong communication, interpersonal skills, team player and positive behaviour required to foster positive relations with contractors, clients, staff, etc.
