3D Character Art Lead (World of Tanks: HEAT)

Job Overview

We are looking for an exceptional 3D Character Artist Team Lead to join our team and to be part of a new and exciting project at Wargaming.

Art Manager

What will you do?

• Create highly detailed, interesting, and unique characters that align with the artistic direction of the project.

• Optimize the characters production pipeline, improve workflows, and implement advanced 3D graphics techniques.

• Collaborate closely with the Art Director, animators, and tech artists to achieve a cohesive visual style.

• Mentor, support, and develop less experienced artists, sharing knowledge and best practices.

• Participate in the development of technical solutions to streamline characters creation without compromising quality.

• Ensure the content created meets technical requirements and artistic direction.

• Manage deadlines and efficiency within the characters team.

• Experiment with new tools and technologies to enhance the production process.

• Translate ideas into detailed character models, considering aspects such as appearance, costumes, accessories, and overall visual style, form and silhouette will be crucial.

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of industry experience as a 3D Character Artist or demonstration of at least 1 shipped AAA title.

• Exceptional understanding of videogame 3D character art and related workflows.

• A strong understanding of human anatomy and topology.

• The ability to create game ready hair with realistic textures.

• A strong understanding of creating realistic humans in videogames.

• Strong knowledge of creating topology for animation.

• Strong knowledge of a 3D modelling and texturing software and pipelines (Maya, Blender, Marvelous Designer, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop).

• A deep understanding of character texturing and materials.

• The ability to translate concepts to match the desired art direction with an attention to detail.

• A problem-solving mentality with a team first attitude.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.

• Expert understanding of current game art processes, limitations, and dependencies.

• Systematic thinking, ability to optimize pipelines, and propose efficient solutions.

• The ability to mentor junior and mid-level artists.

• Good English communication and writing skills.
