The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Technical Expert – Sexual Exploitation of Children (SEC) to lead and shape our global efforts to prevent and respond to SEC. As the organisation’s lead expert on this theme, you will ensure that our programmes, advocacy, and research are coherent, evidence-based, and aligned with global standards.
You will guide programme design, influence policy, and promote trauma-informed and participatory approaches. This role is central to positioning TdH NL as a thought leader and trusted partner in the global movement to end sexual exploitation of children.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Technical Leadership
Provide high-level technical leadership on SEC programming, advocacy, and research;
Develop and refine SEC frameworks, theories of change, and quality standards;
Guide programme teams and partners during design and review stages;
Review proposals, campaigns, and research for technical quality;
Develop tools, briefs, and knowledge products to strengthen programme learning;
Engage in policy dialogue and lobbying in coordination with the Research & Influencing team;
Mentor the Technical Specialist (Influencing) – SEC to ensure thematic alignment.
Collaboration, Learning, and Representation
Work closely with the Programme Manager – SEC to ensure technical quality informs implementation;
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure coherence and visibility of SEC-related work;
Represent TdH NL in technical forums, coalitions, and policy spaces;
Engage with governments, civil society, and private sector actors to promote systemic change.
Capacity Strengthening and Quality Assurance
Strengthen internal and partner capacity through training and technical guidance;
Promote trauma-informed care and child participation practices;
Ensure integration of gender, SOGIESC, and safeguarding standards;
Share lessons and promising practices across teams and regions.
Resource Mobilisation and Organisational Contribution
Provide technical input for proposals and donor engagement;
Ensure evidence and learning support fundraising and partnerships;
Contribute to advocacy messaging and materials;
Maintain a strong understanding of TdH NL’s mission and strategy.
What You Bring
Advanced knowledge of SEC prevention and response, including trafficking and online exploitation;
Proven experience in technical leadership within international NGO's;
Ability to translate research into actionable strategies;
Strong background in policy dialogue, advocacy, and lobbying;
Experience working with governments, civil society, and private sector actors;
Skilled in capacity strengthening and mentoring;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Dutch is a strong asset;
Experience in Africa and/or Asia, with knowledge of child rights in low-resource contexts.
